My new camera!

A week ago I parked my old van with a "for sale" sign at the end of my driveway, so people driving by can see it. Check the post "Production Van 2000" from 04 May for details. Anyway, yesterday I sold it. Got a decent price for it, and (of course) today I went CAMERA SHOPPING! YAY!!!

So I just ordered a Panasonic GS-150 camera. It's a 3-CCD design, with some nice manual features, along with the normal automatic functions. It also has a 37mm lens, which will accept my .45 wide angle lens.

I'm so freakin' psyched! I can't wait for the thing to get here; probably within a week or so. And I have enough money left over for wireless mics, too! I'll probably order them after my vacation in a couple of weeks; I'm just happy to have a good camera at last!

Yeah, baby.

Good looking piece of hardware, Bob. You gonna shoot anything serious with it, or just kids & dogs? (I was gonna buy some big fancy camera, but then I realized I only shoot pictures of my dogs and they probably wouldn't know the difference).

No, this is for serious projects only; no kids or dogs to worry about, and my wife is sorta camera shy, so that pretty much leaves it free for filmmaking.

The features on this camera are really great. The 3-CCDs are key to vibrant and saturated colors; which is kind of ironic, since much of my stuff is in black & white! But I've also got a script that will look awesome when I shoot it in color.

The best part is having 24/7 access to a good camera. The TV studio requires you to reserve the camera; you have to pick it up, then drop it off the next morning. Owning a camera gives me the freedom to shoot when it's convenient for ME, not the studio.

Oh yeah, I'm still psyched!
